Snowboarding Tips – How Can I Overcome My Fear Of Attempting New Snowboarding Tricks?

Snowboarding can be very scary, especially when your trying new snowboarding tricks and jumps, overcoming that fear is the key to success, but how do we overcome that fear? Is it even possible? You bet it is!

How do I learn from my mistakes?

Learning from your mistakes is simple and a great way to progress. The best way to learn from your mistakes is by knowing how you went wrong on a trick. This then means you know that if you do it the same way again, your still going to fail. You then know what not to do next time, and overall lower your fear for that trick / jump!

What happens then, is once you start to become aware of why you wiped out, you tend not to make that same mistake again, resulting in you being more successful on future occasions!

Why should I take one small step at a time instead of taking big ones?

Think of it as if you were learning to swim … You do not get chucked in at the deep end as soon as you master how to tread water. No, you practise and practise and slowly increase the difficulty of the swimming.

It's the same with snowboarding tricks, do not try to do tricks Shaun White does straight away, because you need to master the basics first! You do not want to be trying to hit a huge jump right after you've only just mastered a smaller one, because chances are, you're going to fail, meaning your fear stays right where it is, and does not allow you to progress!

How do i know when I should back down?

One of the biggest causes of injuries and deaths in snowboarding is down to the fact people do not know when to say enough is enough. Either because they are not advanced enough to try certain things, or because they are simply so pumped up they are acting crazy!

One of the easiest ways to know when you should stop is by taking a look at the riders also trying the same trick … do they look as if they're more advanced than you? If so, you know your pushing your luck in attempting the trick!

What should I do if I crash / fall?

First of all, check to see if what your attempting is to advanced for you. If not, then its simple … Get up and try again. All of the pros get to where they are today through practise, so if you are looking to progress your riding and lose the element of fear, your going to have to get good at that trick first.

Now yes, this could mean you have endure nerves, but if that leads to you overcoming your fear … then its worth it!

Different Kinds of Board Sports and Why They’re So Fun

I do not what it is about water board sports but they happen to be very fun and very addicting. It may be because of the unique challenge that lies in each board sport that make it appealing. It may be because of the natural attraction that humans have to the water be it a lake, river or ocean. Or it may be simply being outdoors that make millions of people each year want to hit the water with their different types of boards.

Here's a list of the different types of board sports that we can all enjoy during the summer months unless you happen to be lucky and live in a warm / hot place.

Surfing: This board sport happens to be the most popular and the most challenging of all the board sports. Once you master this sport it is very fun and very addicting. This sport has been mainstream for quite some time with the top athletes in this sport earning millions of dollars each year from sponsors and competitions. If you've never tried surfing then you owe it to yourself to try it once in your life.

Body Boarding / Boogie Boarding: Body boards are much smaller then a surf board and are made out of either fiberglass or wood. Riding a body board is also much different than a surf board. Instead of trying to stand up on the board you lay down on your stomach and paddle with your feet usually with fins, which works best in order to gain speed. Also different from surfing, body boarders try and catch waves that are closer to shore rather than paddle way out into the surf. Body boarding has also become more of a main stream sport in the last couple of decades.

Skimboarding: This sport is very fun and challenging but has yet to break into the main stream sports arena. Skimboarding consists of a board that's half-way between a surf board (without fins) and a body board. And instead of paddling out into the ocean with your board like surfing or body boarding you run with your board along the sand, then at the opportune time throwing your board down and skimming along the sand into the waves and hopefully catching a wave with your board before you wipe out. Skimboarding is a great, extremely fun sport that almost anyone can try at almost any age.

Wakeboarding: This sport is usually a lake sport which consists of a boat pulling you up and pulling you along much like water skiing, except the board looks more like a snowboard and body board than a pair of water-skies. At first this sport can be a challenge but stick with it and once you've mastered the art of getting up on the board, it's a blast!

Brad Pattison Vs Cesar Millan

Cesar Millan, the “Dog Whisperer” operates mainly under the philosophy of using calm, assertive energy, and that energy and body language can greatly influence a dogs behaviour. His main concept, in order of importance, is that a dog needs 1. Exercise, 2. Discipline, 3. Affection, exactly in this order. Many problems can be solved by giving the dog more exercise in a structured environment. Not all problems, of course; and he is right; a lot of owners do not give their dogs enough exercise and mental stimulation. He will work with any dog, regardless of it’s level of aggression. Also, he states in his book, Cesar’s Way, that a lot of problems stem from the fact that people think of their dogs not as animal, dog, breed then name, but as humans, they humanize their dogs too much. Growing up in Mexico, he did not see the kind of issues dogs in America have, as Americans humanize their dogs when they should be letting them just be dogs and treated as such.

Obviously, his methods do work, as the dogs do get rehabilitated and he has shown time and again, the same owners a few years down the road; and the dog is still rehabilitated; unlike what some will say that his methods create a ticking time bomb; if this were so, he would have had many of his own dogs he has rehabilitated and clients dogs, revert to their former dangerous and aggressive states.

The concept of being the pack leader and remaining calm and assertive at all times are obviously excellent guidelines to follow. Also, and again, contrary to what some have said that his methods are to get a dog aggressive then alpha roll the dog and exert your dominance over the dog; what he states is to correct behaviours at the slightest sign before they escalate into a ‘red zone’., or more problematic behaviour. If a dog is over reactive to a particular stimulus, for example, the case of the rottweiler reacting strongly to any sounds, such as shopping carts, skateboards, etc, his methods are to desensitize the dog by exposing the dog to the particular stimulus over and over, while giving it light touch corrections (and he does emphasize light touch, not hitting), until the dog does not react any longer. Same for his leash training methods, to lightly correct the dog if it pulls ahead; and to make sure you are in the lead or the dog is beside you on the walk, so that the dog does not get ahead of you, as it will then think it is the pack leader of the walk.

His methods seem to be right on the mark; but I will say that the alpha roll technique should not be used by anyone other than a very very experienced person; and possibly not used at all; as (and he does mention this in his book) no one should alpha roll an aggressive dog (although he does with apparent success); or you could get hurt very easily, and this is a rule to follow to the letter, as most dogs, if in an aggressive state, will not tolerate being rolled; and will attack; there are some that say that the only time a dog will roll another onto its back is right before it kills it. Dogs will voluntarily roll onto their backs with another dog around, but it has to happen willingly.

The only other aspect of Cesar’s training is the use of ‘whatever tool the owner is using’; which is fine except when the tool happens to be a prong collar. Prong collars are not comfortable to a dog; and this is only my opinion; but should not be used in most cases; as this does mask your dog obeying you for the simple reason that it respects you as it’s leader; and instead controls by discomfort. Other than this, I would recommend any of Cesar’s books, videos, etc; but use common sense and when he says a method should not be used without consulting a professional, then dont use it. Just follow the main concepts.

That is one thing I will give Brad Pattison; on one episode, when he was going through the owner’s house as he usually does; he found a prong collar and made fun of it and threw it out. Good for him on that one. He also does not recommend choke collars or shock collars.

Surprisingly, his main concept is that dogs learn by body language; which happens to be the same concept as Cesar Millan, although their methods are not similar in all respects.

If a dog misbehaves, he will, for one thing, if it is not being exercised enough, recommend more exercise, but uses the umbilical technique. Tying a 6 foot leash to your waist and the other end attached to the dog. He often will recommend keeping the dog on this umbilical for 2 hours a day, which can be done while you are doing other things; like preparing dinner, feeding the baby, etc. This is an excellent method that works well for all dog owners; the only thing is he gets carried away with the activities you can still do while having a dog on umbilical; and once demonstrated having a dog on umbilical while mowing the lawn, he pushed a mower around with a dog tied to his waste; not good thing to be doing if there are kids watching that may try this on their own.

People comment on his personality being a bit brusque; and it is; but in a lot of cases the owners aren’t taking the situation seriously and need brusque treatment to get their butts in gear so to speak. The odd time, he is a bit unnecessarily rude but usually there is a logical reason for his attitude towards the owners.

He does focus on fixing the family situation that is going on, which comes from his experience also being a life coach, which is usually a nice touch. He seems very good at getting owners’ dogs to obey them off leash and to learn to be in a situation where they will not run off if they are not fenced in, which is very important; I don’t know how many times I have been at a dog park with my own dogs and seen other people’s dogs run out onto the road, thankfully they have not gotten run over, but the owner is behind them, yelling for the dog, which obviously is not listening and tuning them out. This is another method he uses; to tell the owners not to talk to their dogs for 2 weeks; and instead use body language and energy (similar to Cesar Millan); as humans tend to talk too much to their dogs, then when you need them to listen, they will tune you out.

Also, he condemns the use of food as a training tool, and calls it a masking technique. It is true that excessive use of food or food only as a training reward will create a dog that does not listen 100% of the time if it is not interested in food at the moment; or if it sees something that has a higher attraction for it that food – another playful dog, toy, squirrel, etc. This seems to be a grey area. Many successful trainers do use food. I believe there may be situations where use of food is acceptable, which Cesar has demonstrated in a few cases; for example dogs that have excessive fear issues; or rewarding a dog off of a negative behaviour (barking at a stimulus), and if used as a reward and not a bribe, it works.

It does run the risk of the dog performing a behaviour for the food and not you; so be very careful to wean the dog off the food after a time. Some trainers use food excessively and this is wrong. There may be a time when you have for example, forgotten to bring food, etc. Cut the reward down to giving food every second time, then every third time, etc; until the food reward is replaced with affection.

Or, you can use Brad’s advice and not use food at all; but I do not feel, that use of food as a training tool is, 100% wrong in every situation. People do go overboard with the treat training, as I have said and use it as a bribing tool not a reward.

In one show, a family is having trouble with their dog rushing out the gate; in this one show, he grabbed the dog and raised his voice in several sentences to the dog; so these few instances when he uses this ‘training method’ of raising his voice in a long rant to the dog, does not seem appropriate or too professional, it is this type of instance that makes a person wonder; but on the whole, his other concepts of umbilical – dogs learning from body language, not talking excessively to your dog; seem to be fine.

So basically, between the two; one of the main concepts that seems to be a common theme is the use of body language and energy to control your dog. Who has better methods? Well, it is like comparing apples to oranges.

Personally, I will at times still use food to bond with my dog, not for training, but as an occasional reward. I do tend to watch the Dog Whisperer more than At the End of My Leash, simply because it is a bit more varied, and seems gentler. (Obviously except for the extreme aggression cases where the dog is rolled, etc; ). And I will never agree with prong collars, which Brad does not advocate. Maybe I watch it more as Cesar has a more appealing personality and seems like a gentle soul. At any rate, use common sense and whatever method works best for your dog. There are positive training tips and techniques to be learned from both. Do not, as both advocate; let the dog rule the house, make sure you are the pack leader; but do so in a calm assertive manner.

What Should I Wear To A Birthday Party?

When you are a child, dressing for a birthday party means simply wearing whatever tee shirt can withstand dribbles of red punch, chocolate cake and crusty white icing. But as an adult, birthday parties are more than just a two-hour sugar high. A birthday party is a great opportunity to show a friend or family member how much you care about him or her, to celebrate with others, and even to meet new people from both a personal and professional standpoint. So you should, of course, dress to impress…even at a birthday party.

The first thing to consider when deciding what to wear to is to look at the invitation for any wardrobe requests. Theme parties are popular now, and you may be asked to participate by dressing a certain way. Even if dressing like a pirate at your 4 year old nephew’s party doesn’t sound like a blast to you, you should honor the host’s request. So slap on an eye patch and a tie a silk scarf around your neck, lest you look like a party pooper.

For adult birthday parties, it is a good idea to consider the time of day and location. For example, if you are attending an evening birthday party where all of the guests will be dining at a nice, local downtown restaurant, it’s time to pull out your date wear. For fall, a great evening look is a pair of dark wash jeans or black dress trousers with a pinstripe button up shirt. Top off the look with a nice pair of black leather or suede dress shoes and a black skinny tie. The skinny tie is a hugely popular tie style right now, and due to the fact that it can easily be dressed up or down, it is very versatile. Since dinner out often transitions right into bar hopping or other night life, grab a blazer, sport jacket, or cardigan sweater incase it gets cold. Since you may also end up in a dance club, the button up shirt is a good choice, as the sleeves can easily be rolled up to your elbows for a more casual look.

In the case that you are uncertain of just how formal the birthday party will be, it is best to lean more towards dressy and less towards casual. It is never good to look like a scrub in the presence of well dressed friends, however there is absolutely nothing wrong with being the best dressed guy in the room, regardless of where you are. Also, keep in mind that landmark birthday parties, such as 30, 40, or 50 tend to be more formal affairs. It is likely that many people will be snapping photos, so dress nicely. Birthday parties such as 60, 70, 80… even 100… are often lavish affairs with many guests. A birthday party that takes place in a banquet hall or elegant restaurant calls for a suit. If you have any doubt as to the formality of the event, politely inquire with the host.

For an outdoor birthday party, such as a backyard barbecue, be prepared for the elements, and wear comfortable clothing that allows for decent range of motion. Usually a more casual affair such as this calls for dark jeans, a silk screened tee shirt or button up shirt with a vest, and a comfortable but clean and nice looking pair of fashion (not athletic) sneakers. If it is cool outside, instead try a pair of earth toned corduroy pants and a denim jacket. Dress in layers, so that you can add or remove items of clothing depending on the weather. If you are attending a party inside someone’s house, you may be asked to remove your shoes at the front door. So don’t forget to wear a nice pair of socks!

Erect Penis Control: Fighting the Masturbation Urge

As many men now know, masturbation is an activity that practically all guys engage in (even if they don’t always admit it). There are benefits to stroking the erect penis beyond the obvious physical pleasure, such as contributing to penis health and exploring how the body works, yet sometimes a guy may want to cut down on his masturbation frequency. In some cases, that can present some challenges.

Normal

As stated above, masturbation is a perfectly normal and healthy activity, one which brings about a tremendous amount of pleasure. Essentially all guys masturbate at some point in their lives, and most men masturbate with some regularity throughout their adolescence and adulthood.

Still, most men have probably had a point in their lives in which they’ve thought, “I’m masturbating a little too much. I better slow down for a while.” This can be due to any number of reasons. The penis may be sore from too much activity, for example, or he may simply be very busy and feel that he needs to devote some time to something other than his penis.

But ignoring that erect penis is not always easy. When a guy needs help controlling his urge to masturbate, he may want to consider some of these strategies:

– Stay away from porn. This should be a no-brainer, but if a dude doesn’t want to be tempted to fondle his erect penis, he should avoid activities that are likely to bring about an erection. Unless a man really enjoys testing himself and seeing how strong his resolve is, avoiding masturbation triggers like exposure to pornography is a must.

– Alter sleep habits. Many men enjoy masturbating in bed, often just before they fall asleep or when they wake up with morning wood. If trying to keep the urge under control, change the amount of time spent in the bedroom and try to use it just for sleeping. Reading or streaming videos in bed increases the possibility for masturbation. Instead, do other activities in a common space and just head to the bedroom when ready to sleep.

Once in bed, try to sleep on the side rather than on the back or stomach. Sleeping on the side reduces the chance of the penis rubbing against sheets or bedding and becoming aroused. Many men masturbate in order to help them fall asleep. Engaging in deep breathing exercises while in bed may be a good alternative.

Men who wake with morning wood often just turn off the alarm clock when it rings and begin masturbating. Placing the alarm clock on the other side of the bedroom can help, as a man has to get out of bed and can’t just roll over again when he turns it off.

– Schedule yourself. Make plans to strictly limit the time spent masturbating. If a typical masturbation session runs 30 minutes, set the alarm for 15.

– Use other activities. Plan on doing things to keep from masturbating. Engaging in alternative physical activity – playing basketball, skateboarding, going to the gym, taking a walk – is especially good, as exercise can release endorphins just as sex does, helping to decrease the desire to masturbate. But even non-physical activities – watching a movie, baking, etc. – can be a distraction.

Although masturbation is a part of life, most men like to know that they have a proper degree of control over it, just as they like to have control over other parts of their lives.

Of course, even a man comfortably in charge of his masturbation may get a little over-zealous with his erect penis, resulting in rawness or soreness. Daily use of a superior penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) can be a big help with this problem. Re-moisturizing the penis helps soothe the soreness, so using a crème with both Shea butter and vitamin E (two top rate moisturizing agents) is essential. Also be sure acetyl L carnitine is an ingredient in the chosen crème. This amino acid protects against peripheral nerve damage, which too much rough handling can bring about and which can result in loss of sensation in the penis.

To see that your Merrell shoes last long, you must take proper care of them and avoid misuse to increase the longevity and durability of the shoes. In order to take proper care of your Merrell shoes and maintain them well, follow the steps below:

* First you need to brush away the dirt and debris from the surface of your shoes. You can use a tooth-brush for this purpose. This process will ensure that there is no dirt stuck on the surface of your shoes.

* If your shoes are stained with mud or dirt that does not come out by brushing, then you need to wash your shoes using mild soap and warm water. You can use a brush to apply the soap over the areas and brush away the stains. It is recommended that you use an all-purpose shoe cleaner for cleaning your Merrell shoes, which can be used on all types of shoe materials including leather, rubber, vinyl, canvas and more.

* To dry your shoes after they have been washed, just place them in an open place under the sun in the outdoors or under the fan in the indoors. Remove the shoe-laces so that the shoes can dry well.
